Baja Russia Northern Forest: one day before start
A day before the start of the Baja Russia Northern Forest the crew of Sergei Remennik and Yaroslav Fedorov had the last tests of a new SSV for themselves – the Can-Am Maverick X3. Due to the SSV design features the tests included not only races along the track – the crew had to master a number of skills related to the vehicle repair.
Sergei Remennik, driver, “We are getting used to the SSV – we looked at and worked out various things that may be needed at the baja in case of repair and replacement of the wheel. We tried to change the wheel and to replace the variator belt that can leave its place or tear from overheating. We looked at how it is changed, what additional tools are needed for this. Every minute there are more questions than answers, but this is ok. Our plan for the baja is not to get into unpleasant situations, to stay on the track. And drive the whole distance, because we need to gain experience and get the impression about this discipline”.
Yaroslav Fedorov, co-driver, “These are my first buggy tests. Sergei has already driven it, but even for him there were differences, because he had tests without a restrictor, and now it is installed in the car. Going back to my experience, I would describe it as “fun”. Because it’s more like some kind of go-kart or buggy that you rent and just enjoy racing along some track”.
On Friday the crew of Sergei Remennik and Yaroslav Fedorov will undergo administrative checks and scrutineering. Then the qualifying special stage and the Ceremonial start are in the race schedule.
